The Property tax system is broken. Property tax overhaul should be priority number one. Hoosiers as well as individuals no longer own their own property. The Government owns it. We need an IMMEDIATE change towards a long term fix.
We need a Panel of TAX EXPERTS to find a new system for taxation. We need the leaders of our state to convene a panel of experts from IU and Purdue and from the fiscal tax institute and from the think tanks in this state that can give legislators concrete options to change the taxation system in this state. We do not need the same people to sit around and simply “tweak” the old broken system. This taxation crisis must be FIRST on the agenda before any other bill is heard in January. Elimination of the Property Tax system would be the preferential fix. This system needs to be “Hoosier Friendly” with no hidden agenda’s.
