Marriage Protection Act
SJR7
Marriage WINS in Senate...
House resolves to KILL it.
Thursday Morning, the Senate Judiciary committee voted to pass SJR7 by a vote of 5-4! Monday it passed overwhelmingly through the full Senate. It now makes its way to its last and most difficult leg of the journey. The Indiana House of Representatives. The future of SJR7 will lie at the feet of Speaker Patrick Bauer. Speaker Bauer campaigned on the promise to give a full floor vote. In fact, you can read his promise here. Last week Committee Chairman Scott Pelath released a statement saying, "there is no time to deal with the Marriage bill this year". He does not plan to give SJR7 a hearing. If he does not hear it, the bill will die, and the SOONEST Hoosiers will get to vote for the protection of marriage is 2012. Representative Pelath states there is no time, in yet there was time to pass 770 bills that had nothing to do with property taxes. Time is of the essence...
What needs to happen now?
We need you to urge Speaker Bauer, and Representative Pelath to give SJR7 a hearing. Keep their campaign promises and LET THE PEOPLE VOTE TO PROTECT MARRAIGE!
